Scrapping Outback's Chipboard School wk 7

The last lesson at SO's Chipboard School this week !
& wunderbar !
by the incomparable Ingvild Bolme !
She taught on her fave technique creating vintage edges !
Now I know that I've been all along a babe in the woods where Vintage Style's concerned ! lol
This vintage layout - a rather simple one to me - is possibly the most vintage one I've ever attempted todate ! lol !
finally using some Graphic 45 papers + a little leftover Webster's Pages & a little of my inadequate supply of vintage type embellies by Rebecca Sower , EK success .
I really could have done more but by Josh that would take me days to finish no doubt ! lol if I even attempt to do some of the stuff Ingvild puts into her layouts ! I cannot even begin to scraplift her ! truely a blue blooded original she is ! I just love it that each & every creation of hers continues to surprise you ( & usually leave you gasping at her ingenuity !
oooo ! I could go on & on forver about her work ! lol .... )

sketch this 68 - Sassafras Lass Woodland Whimsy / New Primas

Pics of my DD at nearly 2 mths old ! wow ! was it a looong time ago !

practically qualifies for retro now ! lol!

The great part about waiting to scrap certain pics is that the right papers will always come along . Eventually.

& with those Prima Say It in Studs Bees, I decided to a layout on
the meaning behind "Deborah " - basically meaning "bee" - hmmm !

Hidden journaling has been tagged by the handy dandy ATB paper tagger

so it swings out from under the photo.

I also broke out almost all the new Primas I got hold of last week & added a little of everything. As well as to hide the color of the flowers on the paper
which didn't quite agree with the layout .

Inspite of my best intentions to avoid anything Prima in bigger packaging ,I still ended up with one can of Festive whites - which not only has a mix of cream , pale yellow & peach flowers but embossed & glittered shapes - likes birds, wedding dresses , chandeliers ! etc.

Otherwise I mostly stayed with the small packs of Primas .

( it was hard to say Not to buy Primas 'cos of the better than usual retail discount ! duh ! )

& o ! You will love the new packaging of the little packs of Primas - even the kraft colored backing can be used as a journaling spot or whatever . I missed using it  that here !

Cherish

Another great lesson over at the Bad Girls' Top Designer 2008 on " Less is more " .

Alas the Robin's Nest Glittered CS which I've hoarded only from earlier this year - half of the glitter seems to have drop off ! lol
I'm happy having tried out some new things here - using that glittered background , Primas in yet another way ( with my handy dandy ATB paper tagger ! lol ! ) , ribbons for photo corners.
Journaling : I hope you will always look out & be there for each other .
supplies : Robin's Best glittered CS ,MF polka dotted pp , various Primas , Sassafras Lass stickers , Autumn Leaves buttons, May Arts ribbon , MM acrylic paint, ATB paper tagger , 3 bugs in a rug sticker.

sketch this 67 - Webster's Pages

So fascinated by other scrappers' addiction to Webster's Pages & vintage , shabby layouts !

I decided to have a go at one myself !

I have a bunch of retro / heritage pics I think that are perfect to try this new style with ! LOL!

These twins are the only set of twins on my DH's side of the family- their father is French so these WB papers with the French script I thought was the perfect background on top of the CI die cut - really loved this one ! - the journaling can be pulled from behind the pic ! ( attached with my handy dandy ATB paper tagger ! )

I added the elements that I loved seeing on others' work recently - some ripping & stitching at the rips ! lol
I also decided to alter the look a little after the layout's finished - with my only 2 bottles of mist - a seafoam by Glimmer Mist & a Copper Metallic Maya Road Mist !

Bad Girls' Top Designer 2008 - week 1 class

for the week 1 class on Layering over at the Bad Girls Top Designer Academy 2008 .

Had a lot of fun putting this together altho' I seriously didn't think I would have made it past the first week - so much awesome international talent in there ! So inspiring !!!!

Since I'm not about to fly over to the US anytime soon for any scrappin' classes thought I'd have some fun learning online at least !

The hidden journaling :

1. I was never known to be artistic all my school life.

2. My current motto is : Expect the Unexpected .

3. My fave # is 7 !

4. I started papercrafting in my 30s .

5. I love Josh Groban !

6. I can't live without instant noodles .

7. I have never been to the US ! yet !

Had a bit of fun with my handy dandy ATB paper tagger , a bit of tulle , pearl stamens , some AC moda bella - stuck to being me as much as I could - which is to say I had to throw in some KI Memories Lace & try out some die cut shapes somewhere !!!
Love it that these die cuts have more than one life when we can trace them out as templates !!
& give old stash /pps /ugly paper a new life by transforming them with the latest die cut shapes or create your very own if you can !

Creatives Scrappers Card sketch #17

Lucky Christine over in California got to be in Prima Heaven over at Donna Salazar's All you can create card Buffet this weekend . Since I'm not about to fly over anytime soon , I consoled myself with making some newsprint flowers inspired by Donna ! lol
& have started to use them on this card !
also tried out the Glitz Design dots roller doodles on the card edges using Brilliance Moonlight ink .
Creative Scrappers also has a weekly card challenge which anyone can join in here !

Music Break - Featured Artiste - Filippa Giordano

Currently highly inspired by many wonderful European scrappers & cardmakers & so I decided to add a European flavour for my listening pleasure !

I have embedded one of my fave female European singers, Filippa Giordano,  on top right hand side of my blog here  so that I can also listen to her when scrappin' sometimes  !

More song selections at the end of " Heaven Knows ".

I would prefer to be able to have that music video playing on repeat though - does anyone know how to embed it in the blog such that it will be on auto repeat ?

sketches by tamara : card sketch #61 - WRMK Nonsense

I have never bought WRMK papers before until now - this latest Nonsense collection is just full of color & fun & a little like Daisy Buckets ' thoughtfully scaled down four 6x6" patterns on a12x12 "double sided heavy wt paper !a tonne of appeal !
So this week's Card Sketch by Tamara came together very quickly with these fab pps although I've only used one pattern out of at least 7 that I have !
so versatile ! great for layouts , cards & mini albums - so hard to choose the type of project to use them on - although for me it was mainly cards & minis I had in mind !
Fun supplies here : Dream Design's silk flowers
(tagged with my handy dandy ATB Paper tagger ! of course ! ) ,
Doodlebug Paper Frills , Core'Dinations Vintage CS .
The sewing while not a whole load here certainly took time !
No wonder I don't do it much yet !
But I'm getting there !
p/s : Sketches by Tamara is looking out for new Layout DT members !

2 sketches 4 you - Laura Sketch 8

Inspired by Webster's Pages Reflections of Nature pps & a renewed joy of using my Prima stash thanks to my handy ATB paper tagger ( I actually think I can use them up just tagging them away ! lol ! ) . I've learnt to hide the plastic tails with bling . Added the sentiment with PP rub ons .

sketch This #66 - SR Sonoma

I tried out stamping for this week's layout for a change . I
stamped joy & 2 different sized Butterflies from the Fancy Pants' Bella Brush set
using Brilliance inks.

Other supplies : Scenic route Sonoma Scrap strips , KI Memories Glitter Lace CS , MM mini shimmer alphas, Maya Road office sheers , Colorbok photo overlay & swatch .
I just love buying the SR scrapstrips when I don't feel like getting their entire collection .
With 3 sheets of different scrapstrips , I feel happy joining the SR Sonoma bandwagon !
& I 'm telling myself no more buying of Hambly whatevers ( much as I like them ! )
( they just cost way too much here ! )
& then I came across this Colorbok booklet of photo overlays for 4x6" photos & thought they were something different & value for $ getting many overlays
for the price of less than 2 12x12" Hamblies here !

More chipboard and ATB Paper Tagger fun !

I think I used a record number of chipboard pieces this week for Scrapping Outback's Lesson 4 of their Chipboard School ! at least 8 pieces ! woohoo ! I even learnt to repurpose or alter chipboard tags if their colours or prints do not suit the layout after 4 wks' of lessons ! Ok, so no more running out to the LSS to BUY chipboard for now ! ;-)
I didn't like the choice of sequins for the chipboard frame for the journaling ( & they were all I had ) but didn't want to waste time looking for the sequins I thought I have !
( so much for organising my craft cupboard well ! )
Of course I had to use the ATB paper tagger to attached the various CB tags to the PP topsider bracket chipboard piece so that they could swing !

Around the Block Paper Tagger

After the initial hits & misses , I finally got the hang of using this old new tool I've had since July last year ! Now I can picture easily using up the old Prima stash in NO time on layouts or cards ! I only triedf out on a coupla cards today & made a dent on some Primas already !

The dimension & texture you get from using the tagger tails is just compared to none ! everthing held down can do a little jiggle & sw-i-n-g ! I can imagine going to town with it on a layout - give mthe right challenge ! ;-) lol ! I also realised that one can easily hide the tail bit with buttons or bling on top of the tail with no loss of swing ! Really unlike using brads ! Eyelets are so making a comeback together with this tool !

Mini mania - Challenge 1 - Fave pics of 2007

Used this JB 4x4" chipboard album & went with Keisha Campbell's style - used the album raw . Embellished Simple is usually my fave style .

This is for the first challenge by the new Mini Mania Blog - started by Janelle .

Check out the DT's fab albums !

4x12" Shimelle Style album

This album although 4x12" in size was faster to finish than the JB 4x4" cb album for some reason - even though the blueprints were all there for me !
I found many similar albums on 2peas - it would never have occurred to me to do this size !
& worked my own way from the various albums in the gallery.
Using the BG Black Tie affair my first BG collection bought ( & from the US ! ) .I have hardly cut into this collection as I don't have many suitable pics to scrap with it - in fact I have never made any layouts with it . My first project was a purse album.
Loved how this album turn out & I just love not having to hide the beauty of the paper too much ! You just notice the subtle colors other than the blacks & whites ths way .
These pics were from 2001 ! & are still album worthy to me & so here they are in 13 pages - which is 26 double sided.

After this layout , I'll.....

know better what to do with chipboard - can you spot 4 different chipboard techniques here ?

  • know what to do for a cardstock only challenge !

  • know I can survive using paints ( but inking is easier , faster & less messy ! LOL ! )

  • know that I can survive not buying a whole load of ready made embellies

Thanks to Scrapping Outback's First Chipboard School - ( also a contest ! )

their totally awesome Design Team is conducting the weekly lessons

( for a total of 7 weeks ! my layout here is for week 3 )

They also have some of the loveliest chipboard designs around !

My scrapping life may never be the same again !

O the wonders of the'Net & learning from all over the world !

Finally tried out my Glitz Grid Roller Doodle here ! Loved it !

A hint of glitter & color on some of the splatters with my Gel Marker.

Masking with a Scrap piece of KI Lace ( I used mainly scraps on this layout except for the Core'Dinations CS ) & added a hint of glitter with my Gel Marker ( crayon like texture )

Added French Knots for texture on the painted flourish ( which I used a crayon resist technique - using a white crayon draw what you want & then go over it with paint ) .Some Liquid pearls as well for fun .

Painting techniques :

I used the Glitz Dots roller doodles on a scrap piece of kraft CS which also had a piece of embossing on it . And tried a reverse bubble wrap look ( created using paper by punching different sized holes & then using that as a mask , painting over it ,;splattering with black paint , swiping , stamping with a MM foam stamp with acrylic paint , painting on the masking tape for the journaling strips .

sketch This #65 - OLW Choose

Inspired by OLW this week - Choose -

& loving the new OA Hometown collection , KI Memories Lace Shimmered Butterflies CS , Some Robin's Nest Dew Drops , MM Shimmer Stickers Fa La La . b
& hidden journaling : " When words & emotions are flying all around me I can choose to tell myself : " I'm too blessed to be stressed , I'm too anointed to be disappointed . "
I was so tickled by a powerpoint file I received entitled "Woman to Woman Encouragement " & incorporated some of the words here.

Around the Block - Paper Tagger

A reminder to myself to EVENTUALLY use this tool !!! I've had it for more than a year & never broke it out of it's packaging !
