The Scrappiest layout sketch 28

A new week of sketch inspo over at

Here's my layout for the sketch
Using AC Blue Skies, MME Ooh La La pps , CC Earth Love Elements,
Maya Road trim, ribbon & pearl pin , Prima vine , Glimmer Mists

I used an old MM scalloped heart chipboard as a mask
here with Glimmer Mists and then traced around
the heart shape with black marker when dry.

These little square ideas are a great way to mix up several brands & patterns
& check out the shimmer from the GM
( click for a larger pic )

I love adding stickles to masked shapes sometimes.

If you try the sketch, email your LOs to thescrappiest@frontiernet.net.
All emails recieved throught Tuesday morning will be entered in to win the gift certificate from Memorable Seasons. All LOs emailed after that will get their chance at the prize from our next sponsor.

Little Shop of Sketches - sketch 45

The latest weekly sketch is up over at the Little Shop of Sketches .
This sketch prompts the use of strips ,
not something I think about often
so it was fun to have a go at .

I layered in some Hambly transparency strips as well.

Gotta love those Foo Fa La glittered vintage buttons .

Sketchy Thursdays by Diana

Diana's latest sketch was great to try out
these Webster's Page's Nature's Poetry pps.

The color palette is just so different .

Couldn't resist doing another dreamy themed layout with these pps .

My first Waterfall album

I love making handmade albums -

my top fave so far is the Flip Flop or Flap album .

I just discovered this Waterfall album tutorial

( which you can find on Youtube )

and had to try it out since I can't even use half of this

DCWV Animal Crackers 12x12 stack.

I loved it so much I made 3 at one go ( shown here are 2 )

& that still didn't make a dent at all on that stack !

The Scrappiest DT reveal & Sketch 27

The Scrappiest has a new sketch layout DT !!!

& me !

Thrilled to be creating along with these awesome designers for the next 6 months.

We start off with Sketch 27 .
Come & play along
&
be entered in to the chance to win the gift certificate for Memorable Seasons.

Using a combination here of New Scribble Scrabble Birdland pps
with Lily Bee French Couture die cut & pp .

I also attempted a misting tutorial below .
My first ever ! lol
I did get several requests before so here goes !

I also tried out more faux stitching here - using markers & a paper piercer

Misting Tutorial with a paper doily

Here's how to have some fun
with a few bottles of Spray Ink, Glimmer Mists & a paper doily !

I'm always terrified of larger circular elements on a layout
so using a paper lace doily as a mask with Glimmer Mist
just eases me right into it ! ;-)

These colors were chosen to pick out the colors in my Lily Bee background pp & photos

This is the "backside " of a doily where I've used Candy Cane Red GM on other occasions.
You can definitely reuse a paper doily many times !

I start with my darkest color first and work my way up

We are using 3 shades of brown here today to get some depth & variation of the same color

Seafoam seems to match the leaves on this background paper

Khaki is very light so I had to give a few more sprays than the other colors .
But it really is all up to you !

I don't usually use a kitchen towel to blend colors or remove the little dots after misting
but you certainly can if you like

I needed at least 3 quarters of the lace doily pattern to show up
& this is the final result .
My spritzing was all quite random really .

Anything you have on hand can be a mask -
try geometric shapes - rectangles , squares ,strips of paper
chipboard shapes , punched paper strips etc
& you only need just one bottle of Mist to get going
& add some Masking oomph to any project !

Get Sketchy #2

The 2nd card sketch challenge over at Get Sketchy is up !
Background pp here is WRMK Tiffany 6x6 paper pad,

Di Hickman's Aug Card Sketch #3

This sketch prompted the use of 4 buttons -

The Nikki Sivils ' Sweet as Cherry Pie papers went well
with some of my August Such Sweet Tierney buttons in our DT kit .

Buttons are always great as flower centers too
especially these which have handrawn details.
I left them intentionally unadorned here.

Life is a journey

I've just realised I tend to use Bo Bunny for boy layouts !

I usually love using Bo Bunny for cards
but this Flutter Butter line simply spoke to me
for layouts ( and maybe mini albums )

Only the Paper Salon owl & brads aren't Bo Bunny here .;-)
Sketch by Shanna Vineyard.
& o! a few spritzes of GM Chocolate De Creme too.

& this lil dude here is the youngest boy amongst the cousins .

This week's twist is to Doodle on your page - with pencils, pens, paint even crayons.

-----------------------------

The colors of the latest Scribble Scrabble

Lullaby of Birdland collection

is just warm & appealing to me .

Very easy to use here with this sketch.

I only used the Green & Leafy sampler for my circles.

I've also used 3 different KI Lace cardstock from their latest Flourish pack.

The Background cardstock is MLYB's Compass Rose.

MME Ooh La La for her & LOTD at CMK - 5 Aug 09

Thanks to Carrie at CMK for making it her pick ! lol

------------------------------------------

No reason being a frugal scrapper actually over here ,
with the amount of stash we have ,
yet we can't help it -;-)
I used a cardboard backing from somewhere -
thicker than normal cardstock too,
& recycled a strip of the various patterns of the Ooh La La collection -
it was easy to readily show the many patterns
of this sweet line at one go.

I also used up as many die cuts from the collection as I could here
& for the circle portion of the sketch
i used my handy dandy paper doily as a mask
with Glimmer Mist.

I am loving using Ali Edwards's stamp -
from the Favorite Memories set
in place of my usual handwritten journaling

August Pagemaps sketch by Becky Fleck was my design guide.

Sketch Weds at G45

Yet another sketch inspo to consider -
G45 posts weekly sketches on Weds with a great DT example
Last week's sketch was by Patti Hutchison.
Definitely a fab way to cut into that G45 stash .

Still can't get enough of misting fun with a doily
& those Prima platinum roses ! ;-)

Such Sweet Tierney

Time for some new DT inspiration
with a diversity of projects.

I used some of the Such Sweet Tierney buttons as masks and
sprayed 2-3 colors of Glimmer Mist
unto the Webster's Pages Magical Wishes pp here,
and then I used Prima bling centers & stickles to decorate the circles.

Our buttons came wrapped in some very pretty tissue & ribbon
& the frugal scrapper in me just had to use them on a project .
So I went with an altered JB Bingo card idea .
lol.
