Faux Altered clipboard - my first

Did this project this morning at a LSS - had a free class & time enough to go to the store to try this project.
It was actually a whiteboard with an office clip added ( hence faux clipboard ) - to achieve the clipboard effect - approxly A4 size . A breeze to decoupage the papers on .
materials were :
Hannah K-ology & matching embellishments / accessories , assorted chipboard alphas - tried heat embossing with the letters d & o in "Adore " , Prima flowers , buttons , ribbons, Heidi Swapp silhouette word , inking , self adhesive lace
I added on blings , shimmer accent on the pp when I came home .

Journaling : ...I'm the first Singapore internet fan of Amici Forever ! & even got to interview them on national radio LIVE ! Thanks 93.8 FM ! I will never forget !
(when they came to Singapore )
( there's so much more to this story of course but the space is just too small - lol ! )

Journaling : .. I can eat Chili with every single meal . It's true !

( especially this type of red hot chili - (small & deadly !!! lol )
JOURNALING : I cant live without instant noodles anymore ....
( to survive trips to Europe in the past , I needed to eat cup noodles for supper usually !
and on BA flights too - much to my delight then ! )

I *heart* noodles !

( c'est moi- photo taken by 11 yr old Deb! )

just some of my random & inane ramblings ...

with thanks to Shimelle for this free online class

DCM - Heavy Metal

This weeks dare by Saffa is entitled:
HEAVY METAL
..no I don't mean rock music! I would like you to make a card on any theme you like with the rule that it must include something metalic...thats all!
You could use wire, charms, foil or even metallic pens.
========================

Silver metal vellum tag , Peel offs ( based on a card recipe in a UK mag ),

pearl square brads , Brilliance metallic ink

Round spiral metal clips, rubber stamped image (received from Scotland ! )
coloured in with Sakura glitter gel pens

Metallic bits : gold wire ribbon

Prima hydrangeas .........since I can't find nice light fabric ones here .......

I must say I would prefer light , soft , fabric hydrangeas ( as seen regularly on Bety's creations ! iralamija.blogspot.com/) rather than Prima's mulberry paper ones ........having said that Prima does have a fabric version with glitter etc ....on the way to me now .... can't wait to see them IRL lol.....

DCM - Through the round window or....

This week its Rhi setting the dare, and I dare you to make a card with an aperture in it, it can be any shape you like and can be see through or have something covering behind it. It could be a ready made aperture card or lots of small windows punched out, diecut or handcut or one large window. It could be a shaker card and can be for any occasion.
============================================
After some nice weekend shopping & popping into card stores later ..
I was inspired to recreate some cards I'd seen , using store bought die cuts & window cards.
Just to try something different ...different themes etc
Have a Tiggeriffic Week , all !
lol

( glitter accents can't be seen today )

Joining in the Revolution... QK

Think I will jump in & acquire a die cut machine , finally ! lol

I am thinking mostly of the embossing ability besides being able to cut not only paper but fabric, plastic, thin metal , velvet , chipboard etc

Here the Quickutz Revolution has taken off .......well all the stores are selling them ...so... they have the best value & product support etc ....

Dont know what to get tho' in terms of fonts ( I am thinking the Washington - a script font .... ) ..altho' a chunky alphabet is probably best in my mind now ( 'cos we can then emboss the letters ! yums ! )

Anyone has any suggestions or experiences I'd love to hear them !

I'm not sure too if the QK Revo will be able to use the Cuttlebug embossing folders - if not then another machine ( like Zipe the Mate ) needs to be acquired ! duh ! I love the Cuttlebug's embossing designs -- so yummy !

http://www.cuttlebug.com/products/catalog.php?cl=cuttlebug&scl=embossing%20folders

Anway , What cutting tool(s) works best for you and why? If you were to start over again, which tool(s) would you invest in today and why?

I must confess ......part 1

I simply didn't have time to do my confessional ........perhaps one of these rainy weekends ..........the sun was out & we went out to play lots .........

We were out exploring Zara fashion for a change http://www.zara.com- great clothes for the ninos & for adults too ... , Surfer fashion- again for the kids ... nice accessories - caps , wallets , pencil cases .....http://www.rusty.com

IMAGINE
============================
Well artsy whimsy I am not for sure - still ! lol
but I do have a muse ......

My favourite subject as always ....

from the Awake DVD stills , artiste Josh Groban

Gotta' have to use .....New findings ....

This is THE year of polka dots, ledger paper, kraft paper, felt ..... it would seem....things that never really went of style after all - just given a new twist .... & are they gonna be hurting the pockets badly ! hey ho !

Latest findings Prima's Sandi's favourites - kiss me pink here : - in a flower shaped packaging with a few coordinating buttons thrown in - tone on tone with one flower in polka dots !

Making Memories' Valentine collection - on Kraft paper & their matching coordinates .....

I thought these papers were great for my 11 year old girl pages ,

in capturing her at this pre-teen age - not too juvenile , neither too grown up

( since mine isn't a girly girl )

Loving the :

Red Prima floral embellishments - whisper thin organza (?) flowers ( love the sheerness ! ) flowers outlined with a kinda puffy paint finish , Heidi Swapp Journaling Spots , MM pebble Brads, MM Shimmer stickers , MM Valentine Kraft papers , Valentine Clip( holds a hidden jounrnaling tag ) , MM tags , Sandi's favourites - Kiss Me Pink polka dotted flower , rhinestones ( MAMBI etc ) , MM Velvet stickers , Q&Co heart brads,7 Gypsies stickers , EK Success Bookworks stickers, red felt heart

My Word for 2007 - going along with the AE zine

Thanks to Paula ( http://minibookpixie.blogspot.com ) I found my word for 2007 !

ChAnGe !

inspired by her altering the Q&Co fontastics to suit her layout ! lol

I will just do this blog entry to celebrate the theme having found Inspiration Peak ! ( http://www.inspirationpeak.com)

Here's a few quotes to set me thinking :

To change one's life: Start immediately.
Do it flamboyantly.
No exceptions.

William James
American Professor and Philosopher

The world we have created is a product of our thinking.
It cannot be changed without changing our thinking.

Albert Einstein
German-born Theoretical Physicist

Deep down inside
we know that the best gifts
don't come from catalogs or shopping malls
They don't come in brightly-colored packages
or fancy envelopes
and they're not sitting under a tree somewhere...
The best gifts come from the heart.
They come when we look at each other
REALLY look at each other
and say 'You mean a lot to me'
or 'I'm so glad you're a part of my life'
A gift like that will never go out of style
or be forgotten
or be returned for a different size.
A gift like that can change the world.

Ron Atchison
The Mayor of Inspiration Peak

If it is peace you want, seek to change yourself, not
other people. It is easier to protect your feet with slippers than
to carpet the whole of the earth.

Anthony de Mello

The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life.

Attitude, to me is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do.

It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company ...a church ...a home.

The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past ...we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way.

We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude ...I am convinced that life is 10 percent what happens to me and 90 percent how I react to it. And so it is with you... we are in charge of our attitudes.

Charles Swindoll

One Life
Author Unknown

One SONG can spark a moment
One FLOWER can wake the dream
One TREE can start a forest
One BIRD can herald spring
One SMILE begins a friendship
One HANDCLASP lifts a soul
One STAR can guide a ship at sea
One WORD can frame the goal
One VOTE can change a nation
One SUNBEAM lights a room
One CANDLE wipes out darkness
One LAUGH will conquer gloom
One STEP must start each journey
One WORD must start a prayer
One HOPE will raise our spirits
One TOUCH can show you care
One VOICE can speak with wisdom
One HEART can know what is true
One LIFE can make a difference.

(I'm kinda surprised I found this by Mother Teresa )

Life is an opportunity, benefit from it.
Life is beauty, admire it.
Life is bliss, taste it.
Life is a dream, realize it.
Life is a challenge, meet it.
Life is a duty, complete it.
Life is a game, play it.
Life is a promise, fulfill it.
Life is sorrow, overcome it.
Life is a song, sing it.
Life is a struggle, accept it.
Life is a tragedy, confront it.
Life is an adventure, dare it.
Life is luck, make it.
Life is too precious, do not destroy it.
Life is life, fight for it.

DCM - Mid week dare - what a load of rubbish ! so not ! lol

Just as a little midweek extra and to help you use the various bits and pieces scavenged from the Christmas and New Year festivities, we would like you to use something leftover to make a card.

You could use a bit of ribbon from a cracker, paper from a paper hat, a piece of leftover wrapping paper, a bit of card/paper/ribbon from a box of chocs - as long as it's something saved, or scavenged it's allowed!

Of course, it does not have to be Christmas leftovers, I am sure that you all have bits and pieces lovingly saved from being chucked out in the rubbish!!
-------------------------------

Well ,I went with the "It does not have to be Christmas leftovers, I am sure that you all have bits and pieces lovingly saved from being chucked out in the rubbish!!"

I love you lace - lovingly saved indeed - from the home of a friend who had quite a bit of broad lace & no longer doing sewing projects -!

Also from my swap with Monique (http://smallworld.web-log.nl ) , I added the red heart handmade paper accent & the little lips ribbon below the word kiss ! lol

& still bling it on with the dimensional double heart accent ...

Supplies used :

Bazzill Bling CS ( love the shimmer with the famous Bazzill linen texture !) , Prima Odyssey flowers , BG blush tag /PP ,

When thanks just doesnt seem like enough ... Yes , the Postie brought two packages on the same day ! or rather evening ! ;-)

The postman did not ring twice ! lol
He simply brought two wonderful , indeed mouthwatering ( you said it , Susan ! ) packages
on the same rainy evening ! - which was just last nite for me !
What a great way to bring cheer to our rainy season !
And as though on cue , the sun came out today for me to take all these piccies !

Deborah's Happy Day - 6 Jan 2006- receiving her first scholarship ! lol !

Singaporeans have tonnes of complaints about our education system - but one thing parents here can't complain about surely is when your child ( in the 11 & 12 yrs age category) receives a Scholarship - it's from our Government !Given to the top 10% of the cohort on a nationwide basis - not a very token sum either - enough to get a new gadget toy for these kids - namely mobile phones or mp3 players etc certainly more than enough to take the family out for a decent dinner anywhere too ! ( yes, mommies out there - that's a lot of stash for us crafting types ! )

No complaints at all from me !
