Little Shop of Sketches - sketch 53

With us this week for Sketch #53 is my very own online scrappy pal , Paula Pixie !
I've known Paula for at least 2 years now - & that to me is a mighty long time in internet terms ! ;)
Paula is also a long time master of stamping techniques-
creating beautiful collage work & backgrounds for her projects.
When I first knew her I was very resistant doing techniquey stuff -
this year I realised I have been releasing the inner artist in me more than any other time
& this layout below is a celebration of that !

This week's sketch is a simple one -
so I chose to work with a busy background paper -
an  Adornit Frenzy Bracket Paper .
Love all their Bracket papers !
I cut into the bracket shape on the right to insert my own misted background.

Love how the colors turned out .

& Talking about Adornit -
a quick shoutout to dear Jing Jing
who is guest blogging for Adornit all week  here  ! ;)

I don 't use alcohol inks for creating backgrounds -wish I did ! - I love the idea of smooshed colors !
so I made do with my existing collection of Mists
( you need at least 5-6 bottles of colors to really get down to using them I'd say )

I also brushed Tim Holtz's fave Rock Candy crackled paint
on the sides of this photo for a fun textured effect.

used the Rock Candy crackled paint again on the chipboard title .
Some Gold distressed stickles for that sandy effect.
Love this combo of misted background & dew drops too .

Beautiful. I love all the techniques you use on your layouts. Maybe you should start tutorials and post them on your blog?

Such sweet words about me, my dear friend. It is indeed a long time & I look forward to many more years.
I have been away visiting my sister & got home late last night.
Her heath has much improved but she was weak from the Swine Flu.
