Bo Bunny Learning Curve cards / Teacher Appreciation Day !

Some quick cards that I managed to make with the
new Bo Bunny Learning Curve pps that arrived here last week.
Vintage cardstock image stickers are by Crafty Little Secrets .

Here in Singapore , we celebrate Teacher's Day today in schools
& Sept 1 is a holiday for teachers ( & the rest of the school !) ;)

Happy Teacher's Day to all educators !

It's the difference one life can make on classes & classes of students ,
year after year,
the power of one life to influence generations !
Thank you, teachers,  for the work that you choose to do .

Random's the style around here for now .

A quick layout with the new
Crate Paper School Spirit papers
to meet the Crate Paper Sketch challenge deadline .

Here's the sketch that was provided with the challenge .

DD & her netball team mates spent a few hours one afternoon recently
helping out at a Handicapped Welfare Home and at the end of the day ,
after serving the community they got to experience
Wheelchair Basketball for the first time !
I simpy used pics from the event to capture a good memory .

The clock, pencil & book dimensional stickers are from the
Bo Bunny Learning curve line.

Little Shop of Sketches #69

Here's a rather random type of sketch this week
up over at the Little Shop of Sketches

And fortunately for me , DD & netball mates -
just took some  pics of themselves in school - trying to form a rainbow -
since they had all randomly chosen their T-shirt colors that particular training day .
Pics were taken with an iphone - so pardon the quality .

I was also inspired to cut into my Echo Park Paper prize -
a Walk in the Park paper kit  for this .
A little bit of misting to tone the bright yellow
and some black ruffled 7 Gypsies fabric tape
to provide an anchor to the design .

ICSketches #80

My card for ICS#80 this week .

I used a glittered white cardstock base which I
cuttlebug embossed with one of my all time fave folders .
When in doubt ,( as with layouts too )
always use white or off white as a starting point .
Other good alternatives - kraft , black .

I have basically followed the sketch closely here
but scaled it for a rectangular card instead of a square one.
Sentiment is a clear stamp by Techniques Tuesday ,
layered unto a punched circle which was inked.
Can't go wrong using a border punch these days either !

Other go to ways  of embellishing cards -
use flowers , ribbons , buttons , bling ( or brads )
in coordinating colors as the patterned papers .;)

Prima Paisley Rd cards

Hey blogging friends ,
trust your week is off to a great start or will be !
Here are some new Prima Paisley Rd
cards to brighten up your screen
for a change ! ;)

This Best Wishes card uses entirely
papers from the Paisley Road line , including the square card base.
There's also a glittered chipboard journaling spot & bling pebbles from the collection.

These two Thank you cards following are made up from scraps .
I think this is one line that I could use almost every scrap up
on cards  and I never thought much of them at all when I saw the sneak peek for CHA !
I am thinking that I might buy another round of this line to make layouts now .
I never got a chance to make a layout yet , I just can't stop making cards for now .;)

Inspite of its rather Bollywood inspired name for this line ,
I certainly wasn't thinking Indian influenced at all.

Just very happy colors for me & great floral & swirl patterns.

CCG#156

Lots of new arrivals on our sunny shores this week -
New Cosmo Cricket, Prima , Maya Road !!

I thought I'd challenge myself buying a little Cosmo Togetherness & Pixielicious pps -
thinking I might put them to use on cards if I fail to make any layouts with them.:)
I surprised even myself that I was able to cut into the
CC Togetherness pps quickly today -
all thanks to the latest Color Combos Galore Challenge #156.

I misted over a new Prima splatter mask -
using Maya Rd Lemon MetallicMist ,
Candy Red Apple , Electric Blue & Black Magic GM.
There is an oppsie at the top left corner where the Candy Red Apple
interacted with the blue mist & out came purple !
Couldn't resist putting some Maya Road doily transparencies to use here -
this doily trend comes in all forms & colors , huh ?
from my old stash :
Doodlebug yellow frills paper ribbon ,
Scenic route paper strip - good times,
AC thickers.

Happy Mail Day ! World Cup , YOG ...

our Monday evening !
Long awaited by my kids for the vuvuzela
& all the sweeties !!!
Fortunately none of my neighbours complained
about any additional noise coming from our home that evening
as the kids took turns to blast away . lol .

Alas , World Cup is a rather distant memory for us here ,
as Singapore hosts the inaugural Youth Olympics, underway now until Aug 26th !

Here's a layout I created ,acknowledging the YOG spirit .
Inspired by the Color Room Palette #19.
Pics taken at one of our airport terminals -
there's lots of activities around our island celebrating the YOG ,
including this mini bungee jump .

Helen included some of her own crochet flowers in her World Cup RAK
& I put quickly put some to work here :
Thanks much , hun !!!

really sweet these flowers are !
almost makes me want to take up crochet now ! ;)

playing with mediums

I liked this trendy sketch posted over at
YSS' blog by DT member Valerie Bishop.

and was inspired to use some mediums with it .
There 's TA's Glimmer Glaze , Glimmer Glam and even Shimmerz Choc Blingz.
& misting in Tattered Leather glimmer mist over my current fave lace runner .;)

Other supplies : SF Indie Girl pp & banner stickers, BG doily ribbon .

MME Lost & Found

Cutting into some new MME Lost & Found -
picked up some Union Square & Market Street pps today -
& certainly found some lost mojo for scrapping .
Love the fine red glitter on their papers & embellies !
The online pics of this entire release simply
do not do justice to the actual beauty of the individual papers .
Much better appreciated in person for sure !

I recently found a cheap lace runner
to mist over and just had to try it out here.

I used Tattered Leather & Brick glimmer mists to match the colors
of the papers .
Gotta love the variation of textures here from
just one little part of the lace !
I also misted the black cardstock for a photo mat,
with Dazzling Diamonds & Snow Angel ,
& then splattered some runny white paint for effect.

Layout Design is inspired by Stuck?! Sketches' - bonus sketch 1

Twisted Cards #019

My card for this week's challenge over at Twisted Card sketches -
This week's twist is "Stripe" - any how, any way!

Chipboard Sentiment by Momenta,
Ki Memories' Flourish papers

I tried out making my own air-dry lightweight clay embellishments
after watching Lucy Edson's tutorial here
I have to say that the Shimmerz Blingz paint
was the best medium to use on
this kind of clay after trying out a variety .
The shimmerz & blingz really do come through really well..

While the supplies were out , I made another card

The hot pink tissue rosettes here
are by Chelley Bean Designs ( on etsy)

I used Apricot Chalkboard glimmer mist  on the center rosette
and added a little rosebud center on another .

Butterfly kisses

Trying out a soft color palette for a change
with these lovely Shabby Green Door
On the wings of a dream pps.

It seems the only way I can get a nice bow going is with some
crinkled ribbon .;)
it's very forgiving  quite unlike using a satin or grosgrain ribbon.
Another go with the ruffled ribbon border here too .

The sentiment is a K&Co dimensional chipboard sticker .

Hope your week is off to a great scrappy / crafty start !

Mine sure is after finding out I'm one of three winners
over at Echo Park Paper's "Life is Good" Facebook contest.;)
Do post away your "Happy Halloween" creations
over at Echo Park's FB page
& you just might be a winner  too !
They will pick 3 more winners this week .;)

Mod Podge Resist background

I just got hold of some TA Glimmer Glaze, Glimmer Glam and  Chalkboard Glimmer Mist
and wanted to put them all into use at one go . ;)
So I turned to the Tattered Angels' educators'
blog to experiment with some new ideas .
I tried a tutorial here by our very own Singaporean TA Educator, Jasmine Low .

The technique is called Multi Medium Resist -  you can see the full tutorial here .
I didn't have an artist multi medium on hand
so I simply used modge podge instead
and a normal artist paint brush to paint on the modge podge
all over a white cardstock background.

Here are some of the colors I used on the background :

Fall Glimmer mist colors  over the modge podged areas :
Apple, Dragonfly & Sugar Maple.
Tattered Leather & Apricot Chalkboard Glimmer Mist
 around the modge podged areas.
Splattered Glimmer Glaze in Emerald Cove & Penny Loafer .
Dirty Martini Glimmer Glam painted around the photo.

another experiment with the new Apricot Chalkboard Glimmer Mist -
I sprayed the Apricot color on the paper towel
and stamped unto the white cardstock background -
I used a Glimmer Glaze bottle to press on the paper towel for
the circular design .;)
I'm not sure how this will be used yet
but I do know we can make paper towel glimmer misted flowers .
Check out the tutorial by Liz Hicks here.

Echo Park's Life is Good !

According to Scrapbook Update's review of CHA Summer 2010 ,
Echo Park Paper was much buzzed about on the show floor .
Since we are lucky enough to get ahold of  their papers here -
way ahead of all the other brands from CHA Summer...
I had to try some out ! ;)

Card design was inspired by Card Sketch #50, Inspired Blueprints.

A rather pretty color palette here in this line
which can easily suit a number of themes to scrap with .

can i say I highly recommend misting through a fine screen material -
I am thinking  big pieces of lace,
even my laundry bag -
anything with fine screen ... lol ...
the texture is just wonderful & effortless .

I have used the Fall Glimmer Mist colors here -
Apple & Dragonfly with some Vanilla Breeze .
very versatile colors indeed !
& no, we needn't use them for a seasonal purpose at all .;)

Layout design inspired by a Liz Qualman sketch .
