TCR#43

Here's the last Shimmerz color paint palette up & running over at the Color Room this week.
Unique color combos like this always helps me dig into my fave Rouge De Garance stash
for an urbane chic vibe.

Some leftover Hambly overlay I thought would add on to the edgy vibe here , also unearthed a long forgotten
Pink Paislee Petal ( last one I have ) amongst my RDG stash.

Some of the latest Such Sweet Tierney Buttons ( from the Baby & Moustache mix ! ) -
always my go to embellies for fun circular elements - don't know how I might survive without them now.
& using up every drop of my white Liquid Applique turned off white with age !
A whole tube goes a mighty long way this Liquid Applique -
guess I might buy it back when I'm done with my first ever tube.
My sweet 16 niece here , Jo with a friend at a recent openhouse checking out the next steps of her educational future. Exciting times ahead for her, 16 going on 17 !

Me Likey

....Using up stash ( nope , not to make way for the new - doesn't make a dent at all ! ) ,
doing sketch challenges - still my top fave, bright colors, just playing.
My take here for Sketch 101 for the Scrappiest's
week long celebration of reaching their 100th sketch !
Congrats , Liz & team ! way to go !

I've used mainly Sassafras Lass' Me Likey line here with a little Anthem , and then embellished with lots of cardstock stickers from their various lines. See if you can name 'em all .... teehee...

My nieces here growing up so fast & pretty too !
always great subjects to scrap with their fun poses for the cam . ;)

TCR#42 - I promise

Here is this week's Color Palette at the Color Room , once again inspired by colors of Shimmerz products .
There is also a challenge extension - to scraplift a fave Color Room designer or member .
Lots & lots of wonderful artistes to be inspired by at the Color Room-
I picked an amazing Brazilian artiste -
Solange Marque - check out her gallery here
Definitely no easy task at all emulating Solange's style but I certainly know who to turn to again & again to get a push on artistic boundaries !
I do Love her bold use of color, mediums & amazing textures .
I did use a coupla of mediums here - glimmer mists , distress inks,
glimmer glam chandelier - for some soft glitter ,
alcohol ink on the acetate scroll label
at the corner of the photo ,splatters of Shimmerz Pearlz Blue by You .

I modpodged in some cotton gauze for some texture with a difference and that blended with some glimmer mists in the background in the process .

Much thanks to Solange, for her wonderful inspiration !

Be Happy Now

Happy Midweek, blogging friends !
& a happy , sunny layout to share today !

Here's one layout where I truly shopped within my own stash -
and just too pleased to use up new & older lines/brands together .
There's Glitz Design Scarlett pps, GCD Studios's Artsy Urban ( a scrap piece actually) ,
BG Doily from the Junebug line, Webster's Pages WonderFall cardstock stickers,
Glimmer mist - Black Magic,
Lily Bee rub on for the title ,
Magistical Memories' Lil Flower chipboard.
Definitely trying to go down this route of mixing it up this year .
( who's tired of that familiar mantra now ? -
we simply have too much !!!)

Did you catch last nite's House of 3 Live show  ?
you would have caught sneaks of what Prima , TA & House of 3 have in store
for us, probably from Feb onwards .
I sure am lauding their "Color Connections" move -
& foresee where my stash money's gonna be headed majorly ! ;)
check out a little report here

Magistical Memories' March Guest Design Team sketch challenge

Here's the sketch for this month's Guest Designer challenger over
at Magistical Memories .

DD had a great opportunity  to go on her school's yearly ecology trip to
Christmas Island last November and of course there were plenty of pictures taken
during the trip and a great reason to use the sketch.

I thought I'd extend the use of the Magistical Memories' flower scroll design
by cutting apart the flower from the scroll portion.
I then used the scroll portion as a mask and used different Maya Mists to mist
on 2 manila shipping tags, which I have added to the layout here.

I am loving the new MR Antique metallic mists - patina and bronze -
they take on more than one color depending what you spray the mist on .

Had some fun misting in the title for a change .

Oh Baby Baby !

I am on a roll with a series of Baby cards-
with the arrival of my DT pack of buttons
from Such Sweet Tierney this month.
I thought some Sassafras Lass papers would work for  baby cards
and dug deep into my stash to find Vintage Yummy- Remember Me
with all the lovely frames , sentiments and adorable baby images.
Getting a hang of adding glitter to chipboard especially -
the secret is using spray adhesive to get the glitter all properly adhered
and covering the chipboard evenly  I have discovered.

So glad to have rediscovered Vintage Yummy - sure made light work of making these cards ! ;)

Check out these darling buttons here , now in stock !

TCR#41

I found time today to make a card inspired by the palette for TCR#41
when my DT mail from Such Sweet Tierney arrived.

There were some adorable Baby button sets this time .

I have hoarded some cute baby lines and embellies to make cards or albums etc
it's about time to use some up ! ;)
For some reason , I was shy of using much yellow on this card or my layout below .
I stuck to a safer cream or just a litle hint of yellow.

Card design was inspired by CRC#40 by Lydell Quinn at the Color Room

Supplies : Making Memories' Pitter Patter line , felt dimensional sticker, Q&Co pearls , glossy accent.

& now back to the layout that I created for yesterday's reveal :

On this day , I brought Ms Piradee & Tanya Tahir , Perth Scrapper -
who was in Singapore on holiday in Dec -
to a cosy little corner of my neighborhood -
Big Ben's Place - looks like a little British place from the '60s, no?

Alas, I didn't realise they were famous for their Aussie style pies until now -
or that their beef pies are actually made of Wagyu beef shank !
hmmm & only SGD4 per pie or USD 3.10 or AUD 3.14 ......
I just might head there now since it's lunchtime here.

In fact, we three had their spicy chicken cutlet set lunch that day,
which we very much enjoyed . ;)
Sure was fun hanging out with you , Tanya !
Call on us again whenever you're in town !

I have some sneaks here of the my layout for TCR#41

Do check out all the wonderful DT inspiration this week here.
I will have creations to share for the Color Room in the next 3 weeks as a Revolving Door Artist !
woot ! too cool !

From Blogland to reality

Perth scrapper, Tanya Tahir
was holidaying in Singapore and a coupla of us Singapore scrappers
were able to meet up with her in December.
source :

On this day , we had lunch at Nando's , Plaza Singapura ,
after giving Tanya a little tour of the 2 fine LSS' that we have in one shopping mall ! ;)

I have used a kraft cs background where  a variety of Tattered Angels' products were used to create my own
patterned paper. I couldn't decide on any patterned papers to go with my fun set of Hello Kitty chipboard buttons by Such Sweet Tierney and decided to go with this custom made one .
I was a little border punch & doily crazy here too .

I made my first doily flower here with a Hello Kitty chipboard button for the center,
& used some long forgotten Q&Co funky plastic flowers and brads.
The BG doily background was already misted with pink Glimmer mist for an older layout too
and I thought it came in handy here.

Layout design , inspired by The Scrappiest Sketch 98

Inspired by ...

woohoo ! CHA Winter 2011 sneaks are well in progress !
What do you like so far, blogging friends ?
I must say since my crystal ball did not make it past the last decade ,
I am pleasantly surprised by some things that I've seen so far
 - ( I had not much foresight at all and was NOT expecting surprises , but how can that be ? teehee ! )

Here are some faves that have emerged for me :

Webster's Pages Ladies' & Gents :

source: http://www.websterspages.typepad.com/

Glitz Design - Laced With Grace :

Source : Glitz Design Newsletter

Echo Park - For the Record:

Lots of continuation of last year's trends in this collection
I see it in a new color yet not entirely unfamiliar palette -
doilies, birds, antique typewriter , hot air balloon ...the vintage vibe is all there ..

Spellbinders
They have more designs of course - all yums !

WP Yatch Club

Webster's Pages Country Estate

oh boy ! I was so pleasantly moved by this paper line so far - no idea why ! ;)
There is familiarity in the some of the patterns, motifs and colors
and yet there's enough new in it for the wow factor . LOVE !

Prima - fabric florals

Wow ! Is Prima right on their money with this luxe collection of new on the entire market
fabric flowers - no more using paper blossoms , baby ! throwing them all out !
If you need paper blossoms thereafter - make your own
out of the plentiful patterned papers we all have ! lol
& leaves too - in fabric ! sigh !!!
I am noting their preference for jewel colors in their different lines so far .

& thanks to Sandy for reminding me of another source
of CHA Winter 2011 sneaks - nicely tabulated too - so you just zoom in on the manufacturer you want & tada ! -
