oh, Joy !

Joy is the feeling you get when new papers you buy
can actually work well with the pictures you have on hand !

I am so pleasantly surprised that I was able to easily create 2 layouts
with the new G45 Le Romantique line  that I'm happy with ,
& I didn't have the entire line on hand , but certainly whatever I had was enough !

Some fun things I tried  here :

I used a Webster's Pages ruffled trim to form a circle
& then attached 3 Prima rosebuds for the center.
I used Diamond stickles on the edges of the white Prima roses here
and then painted some Pixie Dust Shimmerz Blingz .
For the title, I used an MME "Family' Life Story Tag , layered unto a G45 tag
( which had the words Graphic 45 on it ,so nicely hiding it .)

I followed one of the edges of the Daydreams pp and cut out this unusual shape
& then masked in the same shape by misting Avocado Maya Mist .
I tried painting on  Pixie Dust Blingz in a swirly pattern on the MME Life Story Kraft cardstock background.
( My Fave Kraft patterned cardstock at the mo ! )
Added some butterfly & rose cutouts from the different Le Romantique pps as embellishments ,
added Diamond stickles too on the rose.

I am so appreciating the use of sepia toned pics currently -
makes me wonder why I haven't used them more in the past !
I found some old forgotten trims and used them for a tone on tone look here.
In the same bag with the trims
I had this lone white feather,
so I happily added it on to continue the shabby chic look !

Loving the shimmerz in the Pixie Dust Blingz painted in a pattern here
& all the other shiny goodness !
To add some interest to the smaller photo here
I used an MME frame and layered it onto the peachy pink Tender Missives paper.
I also have a Key to my heart tag under the photo which was also popped up on foam pads .
The rose cutouts were great as handcut embellies & for use around the pics .
Sure had fun with this creation !
Layout Design was inspired by LG's sketch for YSS .

I leave you with a sneak peek
of a hot air balloon made from scratch embellie -
this here is just the basket -
I used a Martha Stewart Deep Edge Garden Lattice punch to create the basket .
Being the first time I attempted this ,  I am not completely satisfied with the result
which simply means I would be making more  in the near future ! woot !

More Masculine cards with G45 A Proper Gentleman line

I never had an easier time making masculine cards with these truly unique classic pps by G45 !
Really was a breeze !

I used some Rock Candy Crackle Paint & stickles in parts here to add some textured fun.

I think I got all the papers in this A Proper Gentleman line
and was determined to cut into as many of the patterns as possible
and preferably without using up the same patterns .

All the card designs here were based on sketches over at ICS
which simply go great with G45 papers as I have discovered in the past !

Scropping !!! / ICS #51

Can I call shopping for scrappy schtuff  that ? - scropping ?! ;)
So I was all psyched out to get my own picked out kit of
new CHA Winter AC & GCD Studios goodies this morning
but alas ! our best plans can go awry !
It just wasn't meant to be today .
But rather than go home empty handed , I decided to indulge myself with some new
 G45 Le Romantique & A Proper Gentleman pps .
( which I was so sure until today  I wasn't gonna be getting .)
Not sure now if I'd be holding my breath for AC or GCD .
Mentally not.

I meant to make a whole bunch of masculine cards this week
& so I happily did - made at least 4 cards already with this fine masculine themed line .
I  meant to use up the older G45 Communique pps .
Now that's gotta wait ! tsk ! tsk !

I used ICS #51 as inspiration for the design here .
Think I will have more time to take pics of the rest tomorrow . ;)

Impressions of ...

Isn't it funny how some of our fave pps do not always begin with a love at first sight impression ?
I'm not a big collector of Christmas themed papers in general
& even when the Webster's Pages Christmas pps arrived into our stores here
I hardly bought up the entire lines .
( I have to say Webster's is definitely one of my top 2 brands for all time ! ;)

That is , until their 12 Days of Christmas crop in Nov last year.
Now I have a great appreciation as to how versatile even their
Christmas themed papers can be for  pics unrelated to Christmas.

So here's a quick & simple layout I got done using the Webster's Home for the Holidays line .
using a Liz Qualman sketch too.
I just received my prize for Banner of the Week  win
and am not hoarding this one prize as far as I can help it !
This is my 2nd layout done already & I foresee a few more to come ...
The idea being to use them up before the new WP  CHA Winter lines hit our sunny shores .
Famous last words !

Pics were taken at Tokyo Disney Sea by our olde pals ,
whose family was there for the first time last Nov.

The Scrappiest layout sketch 49

This week's Scrappiest Sketch is the last sketch of the month to participate with
to win an SC Homefront line .
Remember to link up your creations here !

We're having a tonne of fun with circles as you can see here .
I went a little out of my usual box & used some concentric circles as masks
which I can only cut with my Martha Stewart Circle Cutter
( ie if I dont whip up my Cuttlebug or Slice machine )
I used 3 brands of mists in some spots where you can see the colors a little smooshed -
that was an accidental effect of misting 3 brands on one spot !

New found tip : I have a new plan to use up old, ugly pp in my stash -
practice cutting circles with my Martha Stewart Circle Cutter -
& who knows even sneak in a circle or two into the layout that I happen to work on -

Can you spot an olde pattered paper here on this layout ? ;)

New Scrappy goodness ;)

Yes, I did get hold of some scrappy goodness by the weekend
but just couldnt finish a layout until now .
So here goes !

So I did get hold of the 7 Gypsies' Avignon pps
( the papers were the only ones that arrived from this
CHA Winter line , as expected - the rest will probably arrive in 3-6 mths time ! ;)

So not only the 7G pps( I used at least 3 different pps for this layout )
I just couldn't help getting hold of -
the new Martha Stewart Pop Up Water Lily punch
& a new border punch - Pinking Scallop as you can see here in the close ups .

Layout Design is based on Julie Bonner's sketch here

Lest I forget ...

how to make cards anymore !
Took a little time to make some quick cards  -
using up some DCWV  12 x12 Animal Crackers stack & 4x6 cardstock stack essentially.

The chipboard accents here are also DCWV 's sweet collection .
With One Heart One Mind birthday rub ons .

Such a happy time cardmaking is  Ã§os it simply helps
remind me of schtuff I have forgotten  is in my stash!
Yes , I am talking to you too, blogging friends ! ;)

My stash isn't well organised at all altho'
I have been addressing some issues
in that direction since 2010 arrived !

Cut from the same fabric ...

Us Singaporean scrappers here are a lucky bunch !
We are gonna be able to get hold of
some new CHA Winter releases this week
just before CHA gets under way this weekend!
So its almost become a ritual for me  to wanna grab some new schtuff
for the sake of  novelty more than anything else  but I will
learn from last year's stashing lessons
& try and do it less painfully ! :)

So while waiting for some new goodies , (not very long at all now ! )
A girl's gotta use up some of the latest & greatest on hand .
This layout is based on a sketch over at YSS' blog .

Supplies : MME Life Stories' kraft pp, SC Homefront Darling pp - diecut stickers, fabrips ,

The Scrappiest layout sketch 48

Here's sketch #48 up over at The Scrappiest this week .
& my layout here with our
sponsored Homefront kit by Studio Calico !
woohoo !
I used at least 3 different pps from the SC Homefront line , fabRips &
Alpha Stickers .

Remember there's a fab SC Homefront kit prize this Jan to play for
but you gotta take part to win !

I do believe this is the year I conquer any unfounded fears of
using /cutting incorporating circles into my creations . ;)

Here I used a dinner plate & a kid sized plate to cut out this circular frame for this sketch .
It was handcut with my fave HoneyBee scissors &
even if I hadn't distressed the edges it would have been presentable enough to use as is ,
ie the result was with fairly smooth edges .

For added interest, I twirled a brown twill  ribbon
to add to the movement & energy
captured with these shots of our 5 year-old nephew at a park.

Other supplies : Such Sweet Tierney buttons , Robin's Nest dew drops ,
Shimmerz spritz in Liquorice , Treasured Hymn, Maya Mist Charcoal, Black Soot & Walnut Distressed Inks.

happy twenty ten

Happiness is playing around with all the various brands of spray mists
I have on hand - still missing a brand tho'.
On the white cardstock here , I misted in GM in pink, Shimmerz Spritz in Licorice & Treasured Hymn & Maya Mist in charcoal &  the best of each brand showed up .
GM with the little droplets of color, Maya Mist for the intensity of color
& Shimmerz for the sheer amount of Shimmer ! ( yupz ! sure lives up to its name - they all do ! )

A little bit of customizing the colors on the various embellies
with the Shimmerz Blingz in Pixie Dust & Turquoise.
Used some Spritzed paper doily & a little pennant banner to add to the festive look.

Layout design is based on a sketch by Lady Grace for YSS

Shimmerz in hand ...

& couldn't wait to try out them out !
I misted the white cardstock background here
using Treasured Hymn Spritz &  Licorice Spritz over a paper doily.

I also tried out the  Licorice Spritz on a Black Tie Prima flower here - gotta love that Shimmer alrite !
The blue Prima was painted with Turquoise paint & the white -with Pixie Dust.

Here the Black Tie flowers were again given a few Spritzes -
of Treasured Hymn & Licorice .
& the brown Prima was spritzed with Treasured Hymn .
Layout design is based on Julie Bonner's Jan sketch for MCS.
